Broadband Options

There are a few different ways to get broadband access these, but not all of them are well known. Broadband services are split into two main types:

• Private access
• Public access

Private Access

This type of broadband access is paid for by the subscriber and typically means a broadband connection provided using one of the following technologies:

• Home Broadband via land line, cable or satellite
• Mobile broadband using a dongle, an internet enable mobile phone or laptop with an integrated mobile service

Public Access

These are publically positioned wireless points that can be accessed for free or via a ‘pay as you use’ subscription. These wireless points require the user to have a wireless-enabled laptop or smart phone.
