Nokia have really gone to town on this amazing new touch screen Nokia 5800 Xpress, utilising the all new Symbian Series 60 5th operating system.
As a first attempt, the new Nokia 5800 doesn’t have a great deal of competition either, as it is position mid range away from the likes of the iPhone and HTC Windows mobile’s. It does however, carry the XpressMusic branding, which gives the 5800 prominence over its true competition.
What's in the box
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic comes with a 8GB Memory card, so plenty of space to store all that music on, as well as a TV out cable which is usually only seen on the N series phones and a 2 piece handsfree remote, which is connected via a 3.5mm jack lead at each end allowing you to easily switch your output without having to lose the remote.
Also included is an eyelet & spare ‘plectrum’ styled stylus. So if you’re a bit of a cool cat, and the traditional pen style stylus isn’t for you, there’s nothing better for a music phone than this stylish guitarist’s plectrum.
There’s also the usual stuff you would expect from any Nokia; DC charger, PC Sync software and all the manuals, guides to go with it. However, one nice touch that you get with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, is a small DVD which takes you through all the features of this great phone.
Our verdict
The new Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic is definately one for consideration when looking to buy a new handset. The 8GB card means that you can always guarantee that you have all your favourite tunes on you when you need them.
Although it can do email, and has the latest symbian software, this is by no means a business phone, and isn't within the same league as a Blackberry or HTC. But that wasn't Nokia's intention, and its not an N series phone, but it could still hold its own when up there with the big boys.
After a good review, we give 4.5 stars for this one, mainly because of its amazing music capability, but also becuase its a really nice looking phone to boot, its just a shame it cant be charged off the USB PC lead.
